Building in Cinnamon Shore: What to Know
Cinnamon Shore was planned with its own written design code, so review the community's requirements early, since they shape the design before city permits. Homes are permitted through the City of Port Aransas Development Services Department. Port Aransas is in the Texas Department of Insurance catastrophe area, so every new home must be built and inspected to TDI windstorm standards to qualify for TWIA coverage. Many island lots fall in FEMA V or AE flood zones, which require elevated construction, and lots close to the Gulf may also need a beachfront construction certificate and dune protection permit. We confirm your lot's flood zone and elevation before design starts.
